He started to compose this concerto in early 2009. The original version is written for the symphonic orchestra and he is very pleased to re compose this concerto for the marimba solo and the string orchestra. The title is inspired by the 2008 Olympic Game in Beijing,Chaina. At this moment in he life, He enjoy very much the work with some tonal elemernts and at the same time i can create also some interesting dissonance in the chords. Each movement has different character as the title.The first and the third movement is very rhythmic and the second movement is more melodic and free.

Rhapsody for Vibraphone and Marimba by Michael Taylor was originally conceived as a duet for marimba and cello. He rescored the piece for the Quey Percussion Duo Composition Contest which he won in 2012. The complex textures and interlocking figures of this piece make it a challenging work for accomplished performers. Scored for 5 octave marimba.
